Wakulla Wildlife Festival - Wings over Wakulla

This event is a celebration of the area’s wildlife and is geared especially for children and the child in everyone. Local music, a children’s art show, children's activities, wildlife exhibitors and wildlife tours make the festival an area favorite. The theme of the festival will be Wings over Wakulla. Apalachee Audubon will be celebrating milestones with presentations and children’s activities. Author Susan Cerulean will be a special guest speaker and The St. Francis Wildlife Association will have their winged ambassadors participating in two special presentations.

Come enjoy the 23rd annual event and listen to bluegrass, old-time, and folk music from a variety of local bands. The bands will be playing at the pavilion next to the concession stand, and food will be available. Bring the family and lawn chairs for a day of good music and good times.

Additional Information:

Some extras you might want to bring are insect repellant, sunscreen, and smiles.

Essential Eligibility Criteria

In order to participate in this program, one:

- Must be able to follow verbal and/or visual instructions on how to work independently or with the assistance of a companion if program has activity for you to do.

- Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for a period of 2 hours.

- All participants must be able to walk a minimum of a 300 yards to a pavilion or be able to participate with little assistance.

- Unless accompanied by an adult, all participants must be at least 16 years of age.

Civil War Reenactment - Museum Area

Join us for historical displays commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Reenactors portraying both federal and confederate soldiers will be camped at the museum grounds and open to visitors. The reenactment of the surrender of Confederate troops under the command of Captain J.J. Dickinson will take place at 2:00 p.m.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:

In order to participate in this program, one:

- Must have the ability to follow visual and/or verbal instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.

- Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for 60-120 minutes in a shaded area and unshaded area.

- Must have the ability to traverse even and uneven terrain for several hundred feet independently or with the assistance of a companion.
