Monthly Bird Walk on Pepper Creek trail

Leaders from Citrus County Audubon take birders on this guided walk.

Participants should meet by the flagpole outside the Visitor Center entrance at 7:45 AM. The walk begins promptly at 8:00 AM.

Registration is recommended.

Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have them.

This leisurely-paced walk is on a handicapped accessible (paved) trail that winds through a hydric hammock along Pepper Creek.

The trail is 0.75 miles long, and you may walk back or return to the Visitor Center on the first return boat of the day leaving at 9:30 AM from the West Entrance.

Enter the Riverside of the park at the entrance off of SR 35 (Baseline Rd.). The program will be held in the amphitheater at 5:00PM.

Cracker Village Tour

Earth Day Scavenger Hunt

Celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day with a scavenger hunt at Manatee Springs. A scavenger hunt sheet will be available in the Ranger Station and once they are completed they can be turned in for a prize.

Additional Information:

What to bring: Water, insect repellant, sunscreen, a sense of adventure, and smiles!

In order to participate in this program, one:

- Must be able to follow verbal and/or visual instructions on how to work independently or with the assistance of a companion if program has activity for you to do;

- Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for a period of 45 minutes;

- Unless accompanied by an adult, all participants must be at least 16 years of age;

- Must bring water and bug repellant.

 

A Phosphate Era!

Join a ranger-guided walk through remains of the Phosphate Era. We will talk about the individuals, the events that helped solidify Florida’s position as a major exporter, and the effects that it had on the environment. Walk will start at the North Entrance near the picnic area and will end by the headsprings.

Additional Information:

In order to participate in this program, one:

• Must be able to navigate by map and marker uneven and sometimes submerged trails individually or with the assistance of a companion.

• Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors and insects for the period of time they choose to hike.

• Must be able to carry enough consumable liquids for the duration of their hike (summer heat).

• Must be able to properly dispose of trash and litter that individual may carry onto the trail.
