Time & Place
9:30 AM -2:30 PM
Otter Springs Park, 6470 SW 80 Ave, 3½ miles north of Fanning Springs
Join community members in this public forum to learn about Fanning & Manatee Springs and work cooperatively to protect groundwater flowing to these valuable community assets.
This meeting will focus on ways to further reduce leaching of nitrate to groundwater from reclaimed water discharged from the City of Fanning Springs’ wastewater treatment facility, soon to be built about 2 miles from Fanning Spring. Nitrate is a pollutant in Fanning Spring.
The desired outcome of this meeting is to build additional support for the City’s wastewater treatment process.

Poe Springs discussion at Alachua Co. BOCC
The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners will consider whether to proceed with designating Poe Springs as a public swimming area, which would lay the ground work for establishing the swimming area as a vessel exclusion zone. This is a safety prevention effort to eliminate potential conflicts between swimmers and vessels. If the Board agrees to proceed, a public workshop on a draft ordinance that would designate the area as a Public Swimming Area and Vessel-exclusion Zone will be held (at a later date) with stakeholders and interested citizens.
