This is the seventh technical meeting to discuss the Silver Springs Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP). This event is open to the public. Topics for this meeting are agriculture and the St. Johns River Water Management District Springs Initiative. A presentation will be given by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on the process for implementing agriculture best management practices.

Upper Wakulla River and Wakulla Springs Basin Mgmt Action Plan meeting

This is a general public meeting of interested stakeholders to discuss issues related to the initial development of the Upper Wakulla River and Wakulla Springs Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP). This meeting will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to provide their comments and recommendations to the Department of Environmental Protection regarding development of the Upper Wakulla River and Wakulla Springs BMAP. The BMAP is the means for implementation of the adopted Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL).

Great Suwannee River Cleanup

 

Time & Place

Start at 9:00 a.m.
Suwannee River

Please register your group here to participate. Meet at the Branford boat ramp in Ivey Memorial Park. The cleanup will consist of a float cleanup and a dive cleanup, depending on water conditions. If you wish to dive, you must be cave certified and given the okay by Pete Butt. Boaters to pick up trash (either power or paddle), kayaks to accompany divers, and land support (bagging, sorting, weighing) volunteers needed. Lunch provided by The Great Outdoors Restaurant for volunteers who register by the Wed, September 18th.

Updates on Santa Fe Basin hydrology, surface-groundwater sources & travel times, nitrate study at Ginnie Springs restoration focus area, and water quality monitoring. The meeting will be followed by a field trip to Ginnie Springs Outdoors from 2-5. Bring your suits for a dip in the springs after the field trip!
