Protecting Florida's Springs
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
The State of Florida has made it a priority to protect Florida's springs through the Florida Springs Initiative. Established by the Governor and supported by the Florida Legislature, this comprehensive protection effort has committed several million dollars to fund scientific research, water quality and biological monitoring, education and outreach, landowner assistance projects, and springs restoration. The initiative included the formation of the Florida Springs Task Force to help determine the status of Florida's springs and develop strategies for their protection.
